The String

Posted by: Jonathan Tabianan | June 7, 2009 | 2 Comments |

I’ve been wondering so many times about how a person’s life was being written in time. As he progresses in his lifetime until the last drop of his breath. His breath as his ink and his actions as his pen. The earth is his paper where he draws his legacy.

I’ve been through a lot of debates whether a person’s life was being dictated by destiny or a choice, where the author can write whatever and however he wants. This could be difficult to answer for others and easy for some, but if you woul ask me where I stand, I don’t really know. Maybe one of them is right and the other is wrong. Or they could be both wrong. It must be a combination of both…

There’s only one thing I’m sure of. That we are all part of a string in this universe. One thing or person affects the other in a very complex way. Our decisions and actions are influenced by so many factors. It could be a person, thing, event, etc.  All of them are interconnected in one infinitely long string. Could be in a web-like interconnection, where a movement in one point, creates a wave of events and influences where everything connected has no choice but to go with it.

How a person will write his life in time must be only dictated by the forces from the string. We have choices, of course, but those choices are only being offered by the mysterious string, the string of life…

I had a discussion about the topic in a forum (TDP) and the totality of the discussion (slight debate) as I can see it concludes that Bloggers should conform to a certain rules but not with in a level being applied to Journalism, although there are some who views Blogging as an Art which as he thinks do not conform to any form of rules or ethics. Well, even art conforms to a certain ratings which is I think is a form of regulation…

Here’s my last stand regarding the topic, taken verbatim from the forum:

So, the totality of the discussion concludes that bloggers should conform to a “certain rule in blogging” (if you don’t wanna call it ethics). It must be regulated whether we like it or not but not in a level of standard used in Journalism because Journalism is too professional and every profession has it’s own regulation.

Writing, in any form is dangerous if not used properly, therefore it must be regulated.

Freedom of expression is a natural right.

Every right and freedom has its limitation.

Blogging is a form of freedom of expression and right.

Therefore it must have its limitation.

But not the limitation being applied to Journalism because Blogging is too informal to be considered a Journalism…

For The Readers And The Not Readers

Posted by: Jonathan Tabianan | May 9, 2009 | 2 Comments |

A man’s personhood was being shaped mostly by his experiences in life. From the day he was born until he aged and eventually died. The process is continuous throughout his lifetime and maybe until after his physical limit of existence has been reached. Who knows…

Learning is one of the most fascinating thing nature has endowed us but can also be the most horrible one. Initially, we have no choice but to absorb everything  (which we will probably carry for the rest of our life)being fed to us by our parents or any person whose responsible for our survival during babyhood until we developed intellectual independence during adulthood. This is the time where we make our own choices and decisions. The time of restlessness and youthfulness.
The time of success and failures. The time of endless struggle and search for identity. The time of finding your place in this world and many times struggle from gaining acceptance of who we are.

I’m not good in writing… But I write anyway for the sake of expression because I’m not good at vocal method of expression even more. In fact, I consider myself at below average when it comes to vocal expression, I don’t know why… Maybe my brain is too fast so my mouth is having difficulty coping up or maybe my brain is commanding my mouth to shut up because when I speak-up, I have the tendency to be blind and careless, so my brain learned how to keep my mouth shut for my own good. But nature prevails anyway. Nature always has it’s own way to win over and my mouth redirected itself through my hands… And so I write… and I blog… Whatever you read on this blog was really meant to be expressed regardless of whatever your reactions against it are. We have freedom of expression anyway. I created this blog not to impress but to express.

Everything written on this blog expressed who I really am and those things about me, my physical aspect of personhood failed to manifest and probably will continuously fail to manifest. God knows how long it will hide inside me and what will trigger for its eventual rise. Maybe when the time has come when I finally found where someone like me belongs…

Time to sleep…

Hyperwage Theory by Thads Bentulan

Posted by: Jonathan Tabianan | April 8, 2009 | No Comment |

Good day to all!

I just wanna share a link to a fascinating theory about “wage” (sahod o sweldo)… And why should our minimum salary must be increased by Php 125.00. I haven’t read about it a lot yet but I will surely read it and buy this book… Extremely interesting idea!

Here’s an excerpt:

The Strategy of Poverty

When the country welcomes foreign investors with the promise of low labor cost, unconsciously it is prostituting the great talents of our highly educated workforce at decadent low wages. In promising so, the state sells out the souls of the country’s labor workforce by perpetuating low wages. The state effectively says, come to us because it is our policy to keep the people poor by maintaining low wages.

For those who wanted their minds opened up for a new reality, this theory is a must read!

12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Our Country

Posted by: Jonathan Tabianan | February 16, 2009 | 6 Comments |

Good day to all my fellow Filipinos!

I wanna share to you guys this little book I’ve read just yesterday. It will surely awaken your awareness about the little things every Filipino, rich or poor, can do for our country and it’s potential to bring our country to progress in the future.

The author (Atty. Alexander Lacson) believes that “Our country’s future lies in our own hands…” which I also strongly believed for a long time. I been emphasizing it in Filipino forums in the internet even though I felt that no one notices it, I just post it anyway. But when I found this book in National Bookstore yesterday and read it, it just gave me more strength in my faith and found our that I’m not alone in my principle…

Stop asking questions, the answer is in you!

“Our country’s hope lies in our own hands, Filipinos!”

1. Follow traffic rules. Follow the law.
2. Whenever you buy or pay for anything, always ask for an official receipt.
3. Don’t buy smuggled goods. Buy Local. Buy Filipino.
4. When you talk to others, especially foreigners, speak positively about us and our country.
5. Respect your traffic officer, policeman, and soldier.
6. Do not litter. Dispose your garbage properly. Segregate. Recycle. Conserve.
7. Support your church.
8. During elections, do your solemn duty.
9. Pay your employees well.
10. Pay your taxes.
11. Adopt a scholar or a poor child.
12. Be a good parent. Teach your kids to follow the law and love our country.
